Endeavour Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1955 on Henry Head, a headland on the north side of the entrance to Botany Bay, next to a coastal battery. The Endeavour Lighthouse is still active.

Technical data:

  • cylindrical masonry tower, painted white
  • focal plane 27 m (87 ft)
  • character: red light, 2 s on, 1 s off. 4 m (13 ft)
  • coordinates: lat 33° 59.9' South; long = 151° 14.3' East

Trivia: The lighthouse is named after Captain Cook's flagship, Endeavour.

How to get there
Regular buses can take you to La Pérouse from Circular Quay. Endeavour Lighthouse is accessible by a short walk from the La Pérouse Museum. See map.
