Sculpture by the Sea

Sculpture by the Sea was the brainchild of Handley some 10 years ago.

Driven by his wish to create a major free-to-the-public arts event and a desire to involve and support the enthusiasm of the local community for such a project, Handley’s inspiration was twofold - a visit in the early 1990s to an outdoor sculpture park set amid 13th century ruins in the Czech Republic and, unsurprisingly, the natural beauty of Bondi’s coastal walk, with its "natural plinth after natural plinth".
